With love in her eyes and flowers in her hair

These eco felt flower brooches are perfect for Spring. Recycled bottles never looked so good! Crafted out of Creatology eco felt. I choose this felt because it is a product made from 100% post consumer recycled plastic bottles.

A recycled vintage button or beaded center finishes off this versatile flower accessory. Make two or three in various sizes and clip them to a headband or purse for Spring. Dress up a lapel or sweater. Make a matched pair to clip on a pair of pumps.

Start by gathering together your materials. Felt, scissors, buttons and beads, needle and thread, and either pin backs or alligator clips.

Pin backs are more secure and are great for attaching flowers to hats, sweaters or lapels. Alligator clips are more versatile, allowing you to clip flowers to headbands, purse and shoes.

Print out this pattern and use it to recreate the felt flower shown above, or get creative and make up your own flower shapes.

Once you have cut out all your layers, assemble the shapes in number order and sew a button or beads as a decorative center to hold all the layers together.

Set aside your flower and take your two circle backings. Glue (or sew) your clip (or pin back) onto one circle.

Then clip slits in the other circle so just the attachment sticks through. Glue both circles of felt together with the clip in between.

Finally, glue the whole thing onto the back of the felt flower.

You are ready to clip your brooch to anything you want! I gave an old pair of shoes some new life with mine!

More patterns for a variety of felt flowers coming later in the week. Keep your eye out for my next post.

  1. You always make every project look so easy with your well-thought and well-placed photos. A picture is worth 1000 words and your blogs prove that! Thanks for another great “how-to!”
